The 2025 Glassboro Community Garden Waitlist is open. Add your name to the waitlist in order to be contacted when a garden plot becomes available. The Glassboro Community Garden plots are open to the public and offer a great space to practice organic gardening.

The Community Garden is located on Borough-owned land located at 80 South Academy Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. The land has been repurposed to provide the community with a place to garden. Currently, there are twenty-six (26), 16’ x 12’ x 8” plots + five (5) Able Garden Plots for seniors or individuals with disabilities to experience gardening and all are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All plots are raised beds built out of wood and filled with 6 cubic yards of organic starter soil.

Annual membership rates:

  • Plots can be purchased beginning on January 1.

  • Residents of Glassboro are $40 per plot and gardeners are able to select their individual plots. There is a one-time irrigation fee of $20 per plot. Water is provided by individual spigots located throughout the garden.

  • The fee for non-residents is $65 a year and gardeners are able to select their individual plots from the remainder of unchosen plots. There is a one-time irrigation fee of $20 per plot.

  • The fee for Able Garden Plots is $20 with no irrigation fee. Plots are preselected and designed for accessibility.

  • New members to the Glassboro Community Garden are limited to one (1) plot for the first year. Return gardeners are allowed up to two (2) plots.

The Community Garden is possible in part by a Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) grant made available by the NJEDA in 2020 and carried over to 2021 and in part by a Healthy Communities Grant to include more inclusive gardening opportunities for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and administered by Rowan University. The garden will be maintained by the Borough of Glassboro Park & Recreation and the Glassboro Green Team.

A shed is located onsite, which houses some gardening supplies. Gardeners are encouraged to bring their own gardening tools and only organic gardening practices are allowed inside the garden area. There is plenty of parking available.

There is a volunteer garden committee that gardeners may join and programs and information are provided throughout the year to support and help educate the garden members about gardening & organic gardening practices. Dinners, education, and other social events may be held during the summer months for members of the Community Garden and their families.

The Community Garden is open annually from April 1 - November 30, Sunrise to Sunset.
